The California-based EV startup Fisker recently launched its first car, the Ocean SUV, amidst much anticipation. However, recent setbacks such as not delivering more than half of last year’s inventory and a preliminary investigation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding braking issues have raised concerns about the company’s ability to establish a reputation for producing high-quality vehicles.

Despite these challenges, Fisker managed to sell almost 5,000 cars last year, with one of those EVs being in the hands of an American customer who drove 4,000 miles in his new electric crossover and documented his experience in a video.

The owner’s video, published on the Ocean1 YouTube channel, provides insights into what it’s like to live with the Fisker Ocean, highlighting both the positives and negatives after driving 4,000 miles. The issues reported by the owner include minor inconveniences such as front mudflaps rubbing against the tires, occasional key fob unlocking glitches, and initially slow software, which was later improved through an over-the-air update.

On the positive side, the owner praises the power delivery and incredible handling of the EV, while also noting the impressive driving range and charging capabilities. However, the absence of radar-based adaptive cruise control is pointed out as a drawback.

Overall, the owner’s experience with the Fisker Ocean seems relatively positive, considering the improvements made through software updates. The video offers valuable firsthand insights for potential customers and EV enthusiasts.
