While the high-voltage battery pack of the new Tesla Cybertruck is sealed and even comes with a special Wade Mode for added protection, the affordable Tesla Model 3 doesn’t have this feature. Brave EV owner battles flooded street

Tesla advises against driving its EVs after they’ve been submerged in water. Yet, a recent video shows a brave Model 3 owner navigating a flooded street in San Diego, published on TikTok and then reuploaded on Twitter by @NTFTWX and @niccruzpatane. The car can be seen blasting through the water, with the wave rising above the windshield, yet still moving forward.

There’s even a mime in the middle of the street, totally unfazed by the water, with a reaction that only a mime can deliver, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the video.

Many comments have surfaced noting the conflicting opinions regarding the car’s potential malfunction or viability after the ordeal, with Elon Musk’s 2016 statement adding to the debate. Musk mentioned that “the Model S floats well enough to turn it into a boat for short periods of time.”

Tesla recommends treating any EV that has been submerged in water as if it has been in an accident and advises against driving it until an authorized shop has inspected the potentially damaged vehicle.
