I recently published an article discussing Tesla’s sales performance in the 1st quarter of 2024, showing a decrease compared to previous quarters. Some readers requested a broader context, so let’s look at how competitors like Audi and BMW are faring in the electric vehicle market. Audi reported a 29% increase and BMW a 63% increase in full electric vehicle (EV/BEV) sales year over year.

Audi offers several popular models like the e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron, and Q8 e-tron, all experiencing positive sales growth. However, overall Audi sales were down by 16% in the 1st quarter, indicating a mixed performance for the brand. On the other hand, BMW saw a 63% increase in EV sales year over year, with the iX model showing a 25.3% sales growth from Q1 2023 to Q1 2024.
