Uber Technologies and electric vehicle charging provider Revel have announced an exciting new strategic partnership. In this collaboration, Uber will provide financial support to Revel to expand its charging infrastructure. In return, Uber’s drivers will receive exclusive discounts on charging services. The deal kicks off in New York City with plans to expand Revel’s chargers and discounts to other major cities across the United States.
Revel, a Brooklyn-based EV charging startup founded in 2018, focuses on supporting all-electric taxi fleets with the necessary charging infrastructure. The company is known for its distinctive sky blue Tesla Model Ys and Kia Niro EVs seen driving around New York City. Revel has expressed its intention to expand its network of fast chargers beyond NYC into other metropolitan areas in the near future.
Today, Revel has officially announced a unique partnership with Uber, the leading rideshare company, to expedite the expansion process of charging infrastructure in exchange for charging support for Uber drivers.

Revel to offer Uber drivers 25% discount in multi-year deal
In their multi-year strategic partnership, Uber and Revel have shared that Uber drivers will gain discounted access to Revel’s 250 fast chargers in operation across NYC. The discount varies based on the driver’s status within the network.
As part of this partnership, Uber commits to financially supporting Revel by guaranteeing utilization levels for existing and future EV chargers in NYC. Additionally, Uber will provide aggregated data to assist Revel in determining optimal locations for new EV charging stations. Andrew Macdonald, Uber’s Senior Vice President of Mobility and Business Operations, emphasized the importance of addressing urban charging challenges for an all-electric future.
“Tackling urban charging deserts is an important part of building an all-electric future. Since our earliest days, Uber has proudly served underserved communities with rides and earning opportunities, and we are thrilled to continue that progress in partnership with Revel to ensure the next wave of charging infrastructure in New York City serves EV drivers and city residents alike.”
Uber drivers are now eligible for charging rate discounts of up to 25% on Revel’s network, depending on their Uber Pro status. Revel confirms that the discount applies to its per kWh retail charging rates.
Revel’s charging stations in NYC are public, available 24/7, and drivers are only charged for the electricity they use, with no additional fees for access or parking. This streamlined process allows Uber drivers to quickly charge their vehicles and get back on the road to maximize their earning potential.
While Revel currently operates the three largest fast charging stations in NYC, the company plans to expand its network to more neighborhoods in need and other major cities across the US. Revel’s CEO, Frank Reig, highlights the partnership’s importance in accelerating EV infrastructure in dense urban areas.
“Together, Revel and Uber are showing how to accelerate EV infrastructure in the hardest to build places, dense cities. With Uber’s guarantee of demand at our sites, we’ll be able to expand our public charging network faster, starting in New York and soon in other major rideshare markets like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and beyond.”
Revel’s upcoming EV charging station near LaGuardia Airport, featuring 48 fast charger piles, will be a key location for Uber drivers in the future. Once completed, it will be the largest public fast charging station near any US airport, providing convenient and reliable charging services for EV drivers.
