I have a penchant for collecting unique electric vehicles from Alibaba, including aquatic ones. Recently, I found a $680 Chinese electric boat that puts my previous affordable purchase to shame.

While my current boat boasts a fiberglass hull and four seats, it certainly lacks the bells and whistles of this new find, which claims to offer 6-8 hours of runtime on electric power.

The design of this boat is quite intriguing, with a swan head figurehead that may not be the most intimidating, but could certainly make a statement on the water. However, practicality is somewhat compromised by a lack of a proper bow line attachment method.

Furthermore, the boat’s canopy could potentially be better utilized with solar panels to keep the batteries charged. While I’ve made such modifications to my own boat, it might be asking too much for a sub-$700 electric boat.

Given the uncertainties of purchasing from unknown Alibaba vendors, it’s probably best to admire these quirky electric swan boats from a distance, rather than risking a disappointing outcome.
