The Ryvid Anthem is a promising zero-emission city bike suitable for commuting, running errands, or just having fun. With a top speed of up to 84 mph, a range of up to 75 miles per charge, and a relatively quick charging time, the Anthem boasts impressive features.
However, as is common with the initial models from most e-mobility startups, the pricing may be a stretch for the average budget-conscious shopper. Nonetheless, if switching from an internal combustion engine vehicle to an electric one is a priority for you, and you are comfortable riding a motorcycle or willing to learn, and you have the financial means (or financing options) to do so, the Anthem is definitely worth a closer look. Especially since it recently received the 2024 Rider’s Choice award for the best electric commuter motorcycle.
The electric motorcycle market is rapidly expanding, particularly in the “light” or small bike category, equivalent to a 125cc or 250cc gas motorcycle in size, horsepower, and range in some cases. Targeting these beginner-friendly electric motorcycles seems like a strategic move for new and emerging electric motorcycle companies. Similar to how e-bikes have attracted new riders to cycling, these ‘beginner’ electric motorcycles could introduce more people to EVs, even those who aren’t traditional motorcycle enthusiasts.

The Anthem is powered by a 72V 7.5kW (14kW peak) electric motor producing 10 horsepower (20 hp peak), equivalent to a gas engine in the 250cc to 500cc range. It is equipped with a 72V 4.3kWh battery and a carbon belt drive transferring power to the rear wheel for a peak wheel torque of 338Nm. The bike features cast aluminum wheels with Pirelli street tires, adjustable front fork and rear suspension for terrain customization.
Braking is managed by mechanical disc brakes and regenerative braking, which can help extend the bike’s range in Eco mode or provide manual control in Sport mode. The Anthem also includes Cruise Control and a low-speed reverse function for convenient maneuvering in tight spaces.
The frame, made of cold folded stainless steel, enables a lightweight chassis (~12 pounds), with the entire bike weighing 313 pounds, including an 87-pound battery. Ryvid has incorporated a unique removable battery system, allowing riders to easily transport the battery like a wheeled suitcase for convenient charging.

Regarding the pricing of the Anthem, it may be a deterrent for many potential buyers, but it could eventually become more affordable. Ryvid lists the Anthem starting at $8995, with optional accessories and upgrades available, along with financing options. While there is a lead time of 4 weeks for the Anthem, and demo rides are offered at the company’s Orange County, CA location, the price tag may still pose a challenge for some buyers.
