Tesla EV charging business expands

Tesla is now producing in-house AC and DC charging equipment, expanding its fast charging network accessibility. Their collaboration with non-Tesla EVs and sales of charging hardware to third-party networks signifies a new era in the charging industry.

EG Group plans to install over 20,000 chargers across 3,600 sites in the UK and continental Europe, potentially creating a significant revenue stream with Tesla through this partnership.

In Europe, all new DC fast chargers are compatible with the CCS Combo 2 standard, making them accessible to a wide range of modern EVs.

Third-party charging networks worldwide may adopt Tesla chargers due to cost-competitiveness and ample production scale of Tesla’s DC chargers.

BP Pulse in the US will integrate Tesla chargers following a $100 million equipment order placed in October 2023.

While technical details are undisclosed, it’s speculated that V4 Superchargers with the SAE J3400 NACS plug and Tesla’s Magic Dock will be deployed, enhancing compatibility for non-Tesla EVs.

Tesla is working to expedite V4 deployment in North America for its Supercharging network.
