Recently, the Out of Spec Motoring YouTube channel has been delivering insightful content on the latest lineup of EV trucks and their capabilities. While the Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning are already well-known, seeing them compete against the newly released Chevy Silverado EV and Tesla Cybertruck has been incredibly engaging.

In their most recent vehicle comparison, four teams took these EV trucks on a coast-to-coast race from Florida to California.

EV trucks are aiming to meet the needs of American buyers, especially in towing and hauling capacities. The challenge lies in maintaining range while under heavy loads, and this is a critical aspect that several new models are facing.

The first part of this series delves into showcasing each truck’s endurance on a long road trip. Despite each truck having its own strengths, they all encountered a major challenge: charging issues and limitations. Even the high-tech Cybertruck faced hurdles in providing a seamless charging experience.

The Chevy Silverado EV notably delayed its first charging stop due to its extensive battery pack, yet it faced challenges as it could only fast charge at CCS stations. Similarly, the Cybertruck revealed improvements in its charging capabilities, although it struggled with unexpected inefficiencies due to weather conditions.

As the race progresses, each team navigates through challenges and trades first place multiple times. The ongoing series will unveil which EV truck ultimately emerges victorious. Which one would you pick in 2024?
