A recent study conducted by experts at One Sure Insurance has identified the UK areas with the highest need for car insurance, with Westminster topping the list.
One Sure Insurance analyzed data from the Home Office on reported road collisions in the UK in 2022. By comparing the total number of collisions to the population of each area, they were able to rank the areas accordingly.
Westminster claimed the top spot, with a staggering 602.75 road collisions per 100,000 people in 2022, totaling 1,274 collisions for the year – the highest among the top ten locations.
Following closely in second place is Doncaster, with 503.62 accidents per 100,000 inhabitants and 553 reported road collisions in the city.
Ranking third is Kensington and Chelsea, with 417.37 collisions per 100,000 people and 610 reported road collisions in 2022.
Rotherham secured fourth place, with 371.95 road accidents per 100,000 residents and 408 total collisions for the year. Rotherham and Doncaster are the only two areas outside of London in the top ten.
Lambeth occupies the fifth spot, with 368.36 collisions per 100,000 inhabitants and a significant total of 1,167 road collisions in 2022 – the second highest among the top ten.
In sixth place stands Camden, with 344.88 accidents per 100,000 people and 752 reported road collisions for the year.
Seventh on the list is Haringey, with 339.56 collisions per 100,000 residents and 889 road collisions reported in 2022.
Southwark claims the eighth spot, with 328.94 road collisions per 100,000 inhabitants and a total of 1,026 reported collisions in the area.
Tower Hamlets ranks ninth, with 318.92 road collisions per 100,000 people and 1,039 total collisions in 2022 – the third highest among the top ten.
Closing the top ten is Hackney, with 304.03 road collisions per 100,000 residents in 2022 and 795 total reported collisions during the year.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, East Dunbartonshire has the lowest number of collisions per 100,000 people – just 28.53, with only 31 reported road collisions in 2022.
