Show some TLC for Tyre Safety Month

Three things in life that don’t get the recognition they deserve:

  • Watching the sunset at your favourite festival
  • That first bite of a drive-thru burger to break up your journey
  • Car tyres for surviving months on the road

While the first two may be more obvious, let’s take a moment to appreciate car tyres. They are the only parts of our car in constant contact with the road, enduring harsh weather and challenging terrain. When was the last time you checked in with yours? It’s important to ask – could your tyres be tired?

Day in, day out, whatever the weather, they keep us on track. Rain, hail, or shine, they hit the ground running. And we believe they deserve some love in return.

As Tyre Safety Month draws to a close this October, we’re calling for some Tyre TLC.

It’s all about showing some Tender Loving Care to your faithful four wheels. Why not ACT now with these tips for top condition:

Air – Keep the right level for your car as low pressure affects grip. Plus, underinflated tyres need more force to make them turn, so your car uses extra fuel. Overinflated tyres aren’t good either. They round out the outer tread pattern, causing it to wear out.

Condition – Check regularly for stones, nails, and glass. Sharp objects can lead to punctures and may not show up right away. Keep an eye out for cracks, bald spots, or anything that could be lodged in the tyre.

Tread – Designed to grip, especially in wet conditions, tyre tread should be checked at least once a month. The legal minimum tread depth for car tyres is 1.6mm, and failing to meet this could result in a fine and penalty points per tyre.

And finally, be mindful of how you treat your tyres. They may seem tough, but they can crack under pressure. Avoid bouncing them off kerbs or dipping them into potholes.

Let’s show our four-wheel friends some love all year round, making the roads safer for everyone.
