Consumer Reports has released its annual owner satisfaction survey and has shown that Rivian is the most popular car brand among owners. This rating comes on the heels of Consumer Reports listing the R1S as one of its “least favorite cars we tested in 2023.”
The survey, conducted by Consumer Reports, involved 330,000 responses from owners of various vehicles spanning the 2021-2024 model years. Electric vehicles have historically rated well in this survey, and this year was no different, with Rivian leading the pack by a wide margin.
This year’s rankings showed that Rivian was the only brand among 29 to achieve a satisfaction score of 5 out of 5. Additionally, other brands received a mix of scores, with 6 brands earning a 4 out of 5 score and most brands landing on a score of 3.
Consumer Reports also inquired about whether respondents would purchase from a brand again. Rivian topped this list with an 86% score, 9% higher than Mini’s second-place score of 77%. This notable gap is the largest in the list, with other brands closely bunched together, divided by only a percent or two.

Rivian outperformed in various categories. The rating indicated high satisfaction with comfort, driving, cabin storage, and ownership cost, among others. However, Consumer Reports’ negative review of the R1S stood out as an exception and differed drastically from other reviews the company received.
