A recent survey conducted by Carwow, the online car-changing marketplace, revealed that the top reasons for selling their cars among respondents are reliability and higher running costs. Approximately 78% of those surveyed cited reliability as the primary reason for changing cars, with increased running costs closely following at 71%.

Despite the fact that 63% of motorists admitted to loving their current cars, most owners are willing to part ways with their beloved vehicles if the running costs become significantly high.

Furthermore, the survey found that 36% of respondents would consider selling their cars due to an expanding family, while 26% would contemplate selling when the mileage is too high.

The research also revealed that only a small percentage of drivers (2%) would sell a car because friends or family are embarrassed by it, and 4% believe that selling is necessary when going through a divorce.

When it comes to selling their cars, 44% of respondents sold their vehicles within a month of deciding to do so, and a significant 74% successfully sold their cars within a maximum of three months.

John Rawlings, Consumer Editor at Carwow, emphasized the importance of making the selling process quick and painless for drivers. He stated, “Choosing the right way to sell is crucial and can help you achieve the best price.”
