New images have surfaced showcasing what appears to be BYD’s first all-electric pickup model. The camouflaged images reveal a mid- to full-size truck, set to enter the EV market globally by the end of 2024.

BYD is a prominent global EV automaker based in China that has been making waves in the industry. The company briefly held the top spot in global EV sales volume at the end of 2023, surpassing Tesla, before relinquishing the position following a challenging Q1. In 2024, BYD has ambitious plans, including anticipating a 50% market share of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China, launching new models, expanding production in Thailand, and increasing sales in Europe.

One of the exciting developments on the horizon is a new all-electric BYD pickup truck, poised to enter new markets inside and outside of China, possibly as early as this year.

BYD confirms electric pickup coming this year

The images above were obtained by CnEVPost, revealing BYD’s plans to launch its first electric pickup model globally this year. The pickup is described as mid- to full-size, slightly larger than Toyota’s electric Hilux truck. This unveiling comes after two years of speculation and leaked images circulating on Chinese social media in 2022.

Details about the pickup remain scarce, but BYD representatives have confirmed that the new energy pickup truck is positioned as a midsize-to-large model, developed for global markets, and expected to be unveiled within the year. The camouflaged images have not been officially commented on, as the source wishes to remain anonymous.

Given BYD’s success in the EV market, a pickup truck seems like a natural progression to cater to a broader audience. Further updates on this exciting development will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for updates.
