EVs Take 91.5% Share In Norway

In March, the auto market in Norway experienced plugin EVs taking a 91.5% share, up from 91.1% compared to the previous year. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) alone accounted for nearly 90% of the market. The overall auto volume was 9,750 units, showing a 50% decrease compared to the previous year, marking the lowest March in 15 years. The Tesla Model Y continued to maintain its position as Norway’s best-selling vehicle.

EVs Take 91.5% Share In Norway

During March, plugin EVs collectively held a 91.5% share in Norway, with BEVs making up 89.3% and plugin hybrids (PHEVs) representing 2.2%. These figures were compared to the previous year’s combined share of 91.1%, with BEVs at 86.8% and PHEVs at 4.3%. This shift is attributed to policy changes encouraging buyers to shift from PHEVs to BEVs. PHEV sales spiked to 16% in December 2023 but dropped to 2% in Q1 2024, while BEV sales increased during the same period.
