March’s auto market in Sweden saw plugin EVs capturing a 58.1% share, slightly lower than the previous year’s 59.9%. In March 2023, the combined market share was 59.9%, with BEVs at 41.6% and PHEVs at 18.3%. The drop in BEV volumes can be attributed to a reduction in registration days in March 2024 compared to the previous year.
BEV unit volumes declined by 33% year-over-year, with most brands experiencing a decrease in sales. The economic recession and the absence of purchase incentives compared to the previous year impacted BEV sales in March 2024.
PHEV sales remained flat year-over-year, with a slight increase in market share. Combustion-only vehicles saw a decrease in volumes but an increase in market share due to the outperformance of the petrol-only segment.
