The Euros is one of the biggest events in Europe. Football (soccer) is the most popular sport in Europe, and the Euros is the major competition aside from the World Cup. It takes place once every four years and attracts a lot of attention.
Looking at the electric vehicle market, plugin electric vehicles account for 23% of all new vehicle sales in Europe, with full battery electric vehicles (BEVs) making up 15%. European automakers are facing competition from Chinese brands entering the market. Legislators are trying to limit their impact, but the future remains uncertain.
BYD, the largest EV seller in China, is now selling EVs in Europe and is making a big splash through its sponsorship of UEFA’s Euro 2024, becoming its official e-mobility partner. This move will put its electric cars in front of millions of Europeans in a fun and engaging context and should influence consumers.
With the Euro 2024 being held in Germany, BYD will have the opportunity to infiltrate its biggest competitors in Europe and reach a large audience. Expect to see a vibrant presence at the official fan zones, providing fans with sustainable and engaging activities, further elevating the football celebration experience.” the company writes.
If you’re in Europe enjoying the Euros this summer, keep an eye out for the presence of BYD and other electric vehicles.
