Einride is assisting Heineken, a famous brewery, in electrifying its freight operations between the Netherlands and Germany. Last month, Heineken put several electric trucks into operation with the goal of implementing Einride’s entire ecosystem across its fleet operations in the future.

Einride is an eight-year-old commercial EV startup that has been expanding beyond Sweden, where it was founded. It also operates in the United States alongside GE Appliances and in Germany and the UK. Additionally, it plans to bring all-electric commercial freight to the United Arab Emirates. Some of its current commercial customers include Beyond Meat and Maersk.

Today, Einride announced its partnership with Dutch brewery Heineken, with its electric trucks already transporting truckloads of beer into Germany on a daily basis.

Heineken deploys electric trucks with Einride tech

Einride has partnered with Heineken to introduce electric trucks for delivering beer from the Den Bosch brewery in the Netherlands to the Duisberg distribution center in Germany. It is estimated that the electric truck deployment will save about 930 tons of C0² emissions per year, contributing to Heineken’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its value chain by 2040. Arjen van der Woude, Heineken’s Director of Strategic Sourcing Supply Chain, emphasized the significance of this partnership in the decarbonization of logistics to achieve net-zero commitments, stating that battery electric technology is crucial for decarbonizing road freight.

Einride is already executing phase one of the electric truck deployment, using an initial fleet of 5 Mercedes eActros 300 trucks to transport ten full truck loads per day. Einride’s Saga platform will help Heineken optimize truck routes, minimize energy consumption, and monitor emission reductions. Both companies are committed to achieving net-zero emissions and working together to cross-border electrification.
