After a monumental 5,000 hours of development, tuning house Lunaz has revived this classic Range Rover Safari cabriolet by swapping the old 3.9L V8 with dual electric motors. But this project is much more than just an engine upgrade!

Lunaz revealed that the project was originally inspired by the Range Rover convertible featured in the 1983 James Bond film “Octopussy” and driven by Roger Moore.

Starting with a 1983 two-door wagon model, the Lunaz team transformed the Range Rover convertible significantly. They increased the vehicle’s power to 375 HP, reinforced the chassis, added an all-new suspension system, and upgraded the brakes for improved performance and handling.

Internally, the electric Range Rover Safari features a 2+2 seating layout upholstered in light blue leather with a waterproof textile for the knitted stripes in the middle of each seat, all complementing the exterior’s Maya Blue finish. More than 1,000 hours were spent on the interior alone, making these hand-made electric Range Rover Safari models a luxury item.

Electrek’s Take

Classic cars like the original Range Rover often struggle to stay on the road due to engine issues, parts unavailability, and emissions. Lunaz and similar companies breathe new life into these classic icons, making them enjoyable with modern upgrades. These electrified classic cars are truly fascinating.
