A few weeks ago, the New Mexico Department of Transportation made an exciting announcement regarding NEVI charging sites. The NEVI program, part of the federal Infrastructure Bill, allocates funds to states for investing in charging infrastructure. The new stations will be strategically placed along interstate highways, usually no more than 50 miles apart and equipped with four stalls capable of simultaneously charging at least four cars at 160 kW power.

However, when New Mexico initially revealed its selection of station proposals, details were lacking. Addresses, station hardware specifications, and stall numbers were not provided. Fortunately, a friend of mine was able to obtain this information through a public records request, which he shared on Twitter.

Upcoming Stations & Competition

New stations by Pilot Truck Stops and Francis Energy, along with EV Gateway’s installation in Las Cruces, are set to enhance electric vehicle charging infrastructure along I-40 and I-25 in New Mexico. Exciting developments are underway to meet the growing demand for EV charging options.
