Commercial Trailer Leasing (CTL) recently announced a partnership with Orange EV to introduce a fleet of zero-emission electric yard trucks to various terminals across the US.
Orange EV has installed over 1,000 pure-electric Class 8 terminal trucks in terminals nationwide over the last eight years. The company is known as a top provider of electrified yard dogs, drayage trucks, terminal haulers, hostlers, spotters, shunt trucks, yard horses, goats, and mules. Whichever name they go by in your fleet, they play a significant role in the food distribution and logistics industries.
Many of these yard trucks are leased out to fleets by companies like CTL, and they are increasingly requesting more electric trucks like the Orange EV e-TRIEVER.

Corey Eisen, Vice President of CTL, expressed the company’s excitement about partnering with Orange EV to fulfill the growing customer demand in electric vehicle (EV) transportation, emphasizing the significant cost savings and environmental benefits delivered by Orange EV’s electric yard trucks.
Orange EV and CTL project substantial savings for fleets using the e-TRIEVER, with estimates ranging from $20,000 to $90,000 per truck per year due to reduced fuel and maintenance costs. Additionally, decreased downtime and operator turnover costs are seen at terminals using the e-TRIEVER, thanks to the improved working conditions provided by electric yard trucks.
CTL, as one of the largest full-service truck and trailer lessors in the US with a fleet of over 55,000 trailers, remains dedicated to supporting fleets across multiple industry verticals in their zero-emission goals.
Electrek’s Take
Electric motors provide superior efficiency and performance, making them ideal for drayage operations. The industry’s embrace of electric yard trucks demonstrates their significant benefits and potential for wider adoption.
