BMW teases new i5 M60 Touring EV

After more than six years of teasing, BMW finally revealed the i5 last May. This slightly larger, all-electric model features the latest software and tech, including OS 8.5. Positioned between the 3 series and the larger 7 series, the 5 series has been one of BMW’s best sellers and will continue to play a key role in the brand’s success. The i5 has been available in the US since October, offering two trims – the i5 eDrive50 and i5 M60.

While the eDrive50 features 335 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, along with an 81.2 kWh battery providing up to 295 miles of range, the high-performance i5 M60 is powered by dual electric motors and delivers a combined 593 hp and 586 lb-ft of torque.

BMW’s latest teaser doesn’t specifically mention the M60 version but confirms that an M model is on the way. The preview shows redesigned taillights, a sleek new bumper, and an added small rear spoiler. Franciscus van Meel, BMW’s M division leader, stated that the high-performance i5 M60 Touring is set to arrive this spring, expected to offer similar specs to the i5 M60 with a dual-motor powertrain and include BMW’s latest tech and software.
