Big Auto is begging governments to let them go bankrupt as Chinese EVs loom

Automakers are vigorously lobbying governments to weaken already compromised emissions regulations. However, such actions will only contribute to their downfall as serious EV-focused market entrants will continue to advance regardless.

The automotive industry is transitioning towards electrification, with all new cars expected to be electric in the near future. This shift is widely acknowledged, as continuing to pollute at current rates will have increasingly negative consequences for humanity as climate change worsens.

The imperative to stop burning fossil fuels quickly is a matter of physics, not opinion. Physics disregards arguments against it. The auto industry, responsible for significant pollution, continues to lobby for looser emissions reduction targets, even after these targets were already weakened.
