California’s Aventon is dedicated to making e-biking accessible and affordable for a wide range of people. Many of their bikes are priced under $2,000 USD, making e-biking more attainable. To maintain quality while keeping costs down, production is outsourced to China, with a high level of quality control.

The Sinch 2, introduced in April 2023, quickly gained popularity due to its affordable price of $1,799 and versatile features. It is equipped with a 500W rear motor with 750W of peak power, making it capable of handling steep hills on and off-road. Despite its promising components, Aventon recently announced a recall for the Sinch 2.

Aventon discovered that in some cases, the motor of the Sinch 2 could unexpectedly accelerate, posing a potential safety risk to riders. While no injuries have been reported, six incidents of unintended acceleration prompted the recall. The company plans to repair affected components, which possibly involves the sensors within the motor, pedal-assist system, and handlebar-mounted throttle. Approximately 2,300 bikes in the US and 30 units in Canada are included in the recall.

The safety of the product should be a priority for all owners. Aventon recommends contacting their nearest dealer, calling their headquarters at 866-300-3311, or visiting their official website for more information or to address any concerns related to the Sinch 2 recall.
