Tesla has recently reached a major milestone by producing its 6 millionth electric vehicle, highlighting its continued growth in the industry despite some challenges.

Although BYD has surpassed Tesla in new Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) production capacity, Tesla remains a leader in overall BEV deployment.

Today, Tesla officially announced the production of its 6 millionth electric car:

This achievement comes just over 6 months after Tesla celebrated its 5 millionth vehicle production in September 2023. Prior to that, in early March 2023, Tesla hit the 4 millionth vehicle production mark, indicating a steady production pace over the past year.

Despite claims of increased production capacity at Gigafactory Shanghai, Gigafactory Berlin, and the addition of Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas, Tesla’s production rate has not shown significant acceleration.

Electrek’s Take

Congratulations to Tesla on this remarkable achievement.

However, the consistent production rate over the past year suggests that Tesla may be strategically managing its output in response to demand fluctuations, possibly impacting its growth trajectory in the near future.

As previously reported, there are concerns that Tesla’s growth could be severely impacted in Q1 2024.
