Hyundai EVs are some of the cheapest cars to lease

Hyundai achieved record sales in the US and aims to continue this success in 2024.

According to S&P Global registration data, Hyundai was the fourth best-selling EV maker in 2024, with 51,411 electric cars delivered, capturing 4.5% of the US EV market. Combining sales from Kia and Genesis, Hyundai Motor ranked second, trailing only Tesla.

The trend continued in January, with a 79% year-over-year increase in Hyundai’s EV registrations. The IONIQ 5 led the sales with 2,436 registrations, followed by the IONIQ 6 with 1,063 units.

Earlier in the month, Hyundai launched its “Getaway Sales Event,” offering discounts on popular models, including their EV lineup.

Mid-month, Hyundai enhanced their offers with new deals on select EVs. As a result, the IONIQ 6 and Kona EV stand out as some of the most affordable vehicles to lease in the US.

Earlier reports indicated Hyundai offering a rare 0% APR rate on the IONIQ 5. Now, the revised deals are even more attractive.

Lease rates as low as $169 per month

Hyundai slashed lease rates to $239 per month for the 2024 IONIQ 6 SE, requiring only $239 at signing (including a $7,500 EV lease bonus). Unlike typical leases, Hyundai demands only the first-month payment upfront.

As per online auto research firm CarsDirect, Hyundai’s IONIQ 6 stands out as the most cost-effective vehicle to lease in the US, be it electric or gas, with an effective cost as low as $249 per month.

The IONIQ 6 SE AWD is available for $319 per month with $319 due at signing. Remarkably, Hyundai’s IONIQ 6 is more affordable to lease than a 2024 Toyota Corolla LE ($382/mo).

Hyundai’s lease for the IONIQ 6 includes $10,000 in lease cash, verified by Hyundai spokesperson Miles Johnson as “not a typo.”
